- I really need some advice (quite quickly too).
-
- I've had the GVP SCSI (A4008) in my 4000/30 for a few months now and have
- been using it with the Zip Drive with no problems whatsoever, BUT...
-
- A few days ago I bought an AIWA ACD-300 SCSI external CD-ROM drive and
- daisy chained it with the Zip. Now what happens is every now and again,
- only when I am reading/writing from/to the Zip drive and accessing the CD
- at the same time, occasionally I get the message "Unexpected status
- $40/$00 unit X", where X is whatever unit the CD-ROM Drive is (I've tried
- it on a few). Then, the system usually crashes, or at the very least the
- Zip Drive locks up and I have to reboot.
-
- I thought I'd solved the problem by changing a tooltype in the
- gvpscsi.device icon file from "WDCLOCK = 7MHZ" to "WDCLOCK = 14MHZ". It
- is certainly more reliable than it was before, but still crashes
- occasionally when transferring data from the CD-ROM to the Zip.
-
- After reading a few of the articles on this list, I am beginning to think
- that I should have gone for the Octagon card instead, but it's a bit late
- now.
-
- Anyone here help? I'm using a version of the gvpscsi.device dated the
- 6th oct 92 (ver 4.13). Anyone got a newer version, or know where I can
- get one from (now that GVP are no longer here), or know another way to
- solve the problem. I need to know soon, because I am considering taking
- the CD-ROM drive back. :-(
-
- Thanks...
